NHBB partnered with Chamber of Commerce in hosting
a policy development roundtable conducted by BIA

New Hampshire Ball Bearings, Inc. (NHBB) recently partnered with the Chamber of Commerce from Peterborough, Jaffrey and Hillsborough in hosting a policy development roundtable conducted by the Business & Industry Association (BIA). This panel discussion was designed for the local business community to help establish a proactive legislative and regulatory agenda for the 2007 legislative session at the New Hampshire State House.

Approximately 30 business leaders from the Hillsborough region attended the June 22nd forum, moderated by Jim Roche, President of the BIA.

The primary focus of the roundtable was to identify the “New Hampshire Advantage” and offer recommendations to the BIA to help address any challenges and concerns that threaten New Hampshire’s business, environmental and social assets.

Examples of the “advantage” of business in New Hampshire include our natural resources and environment, the exclusion of income or sales tax, affordable arts & culture and quality of life, emphasizing the state’s low crime rate.

The two most recognizable threats to the New Hampshire Advantage were identified as; rising costs of health care and the cost of housing for the average worker in the state, which continues to escalate.

Patti Carrier and Chris Rawnsley of NHBB helped bring the BIA to NHBB for the day and were active participants on the panel, which was one of fifteen scheduled by the BIA throughout the state in the month of June.
