NHBB Hosts Energy Fair for Employees

June 4, 2004 -- Peterborough, NH. As part of its commitment to environmental excellence, the HiTech Division of New Hampshire Ball Bearings, Inc. (NHBB), in conjunction with the WasteCap Resource Conservation Network and the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, hosted an Energy Fair for its employees on Wednesday, June 2. “Part of our obligation with regard to our environmental efforts here is to provide our employees with information that explains how our individual actions impact our environment, both locally and globally,” said Patti Carrier, NHBB’s Environmental/Facilities Manager.

Joanne Morin, Administrator, Technical Services Bureau, Air Resources Division of the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, offered a formal presentation to all employees on the topic of global warming and the theory of climate change, while Robert Scott, Director, Air Resources Division of NHDES addressed the group at the fair. “New Hampshire Ball Bearings has taken a leadership role among NH industry and for that I thank them. They are not just doing what they need to in order to be compliant, they are doing what they feel they should do to be a good corporate citizen,” said Scott.

In addition to the presentations, employees were given the opportunity to talk to local merchants such as Aubuchon Hardware, New England Wood Pellets, Rymes Oil, and Public Service Company of New Hampshire (PSNH) about energy efficient products such as appliances, lighting, alternative home heating options, as well as alternative fuel/hybrid vehicles.

“I couldn’t be more pleased with the response we’ve gotten from the Fair,” said Carrier. “Environmental excellence can only be achieved by caring people, and our employees certainly showed us that today.”
