NHBB Expands Its Committment To The Environment

January 5, 2006 -- Peterborough, NH. Advancing as a global leader in the production of quality custom bearing products, New Hampshire Ball Bearings, Inc. (NHBB), is proud to announce that its Precision Division located in Chatsworth, California has recently been named a member of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) National Environmental Performance Track program.

Since 1971, NHBB’s Precision Division has focused on producing sophisticated, non-standard, ultra-precision miniature and instrument bearing designs. These specialty bearings are essential to and used significantly in commercial and military aerospace applications as well as in dental, medical and other advanced industrial applications.

Launched in June 2000, the EPA’s National Environmental Performance Track program and its members are leading by example and taking extra steps to minimize their manufacturing impact on the environment, while improving productivity. Dave Bustillos, Facilities Manager at the Precision Division said, “Over the past several years, the Precision Division has reduced annual air emissions, specifically Volatile Organic Compounds, from 11 tons to 1.04 tons as of July, 2005. In addition, we have implemented an energy savings program, which has reduced energy usage substantially and with a cost saving benefit of $158,000.”

The Precision Division joins more than 300 U.S. facilities, including NHBB’s two other divisions located in Peterborough and Laconia, New Hampshire, in their dedication to exceed environmental regulation requirements. Bustillos added, “Through our continual environmental projects, we as an organization have committed to exceeding local and federal environmental regulatory requirements, which has created a culture of being proactive, rather than reactive, when it comes to environmental impacts.”
