NHBB Partners with Keene Community Education to Create Training Classes
According to Donna Marcin, HiTech's Human Resources Manager, “We currently have three training classes in place for 2006 and look forward to working with Keene Community Education and a committee of regional employer representatives to expand the program further in 2007.” She continued, “One such skilled position that we are in short supply of are computer numeric control (CNC) machinists. A class is scheduled for September at Keene High School to train personnel to manufacture various types of components using both manual and computer-aided machinery.” A “Shop Math” class recently concluded in late March, and “Blueprint Reading” is currently in session thru May.” Both of these classes have taken place at NHBB, led by Jack Meagher, Senior Engineer in HiTech’s Quality Assurance Department. The Workforce Opportunity Council of New Hampshire serves as a catalyst to promote life- learning by partnering with businesses, agencies, and organizations to establish a secure workforce that can meet current and future skilled labor needs and provide a competitive advantage for all New Hampshire businesses. Other regional manufacturing companies such as Graphicast in Jaffrey and Tidland Corp. in Keene have also partnered with NHBB and Keene Community Education in the planning of classes.
